While it can be interesting to read the previews written about BYU, keep in mind the writers are typically writing dozens of these and will miss out on some things that are very apparent to BYU fans. For example: FoxSports says Kehl is the 9th best player on the team. They also talk about Cade Cooper as a potential QB in the mix.
Here are the previews so far:
Athlon
FoxSports
Mitch Harper (surprisingly good)
Sporting News
My 3 Cents: Let me know of any others you are aware of and I will update the list.

What's the latest on the MTN and broadcast plans? What games will I see in Virginia?
You mentioned Wayne Latu in a post earlier this week, and he was again mentioned in one of those previews that you linked to. He is not a name that I hear mentioned in the mix for running back this year after coming off of a redshirt year. Two years ago, he looked great in mop-up duty against UNLV, nearly 100 yards of rushing. Is he going to be in the mix this year?
Wayne Latu (aka Wayne Train) will likely not be seeing the field much this season. He redshirted last year and is currently behind Vakapuna, Tonga, Semanoff, Unga and potentially JJ DiLuigi. I think in mop-up duty this year we will mostly be seeing Unga and DiLuigi.
I understand that Latu is very fast, but speed alone isn't enough to get on the field.
Someone corrected me by saying that we are not ranked in the top 25.
Here is an article posted today on Cougar Update that came from the Deseret News:
"Football games at Brigham Young University will be brighter than ever. Left, Rusty Allen works on dismantling a bank of old lights at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo Thursday. Below, a new bank of lights is installed at the stadium in preparation for the upcoming football season. Training camp begins Aug. 4, and the opening game is Sept. 1 against Arizona. For the first time since 1997, the Cougars will kick off the season ranked among the nation's top-25 programs."
Is this a matter of semantics or what am I missing here? I went to every publication and they are ranked in some of the top 25; the AP comes out in August & the others in Sept & thereafter.

According to this official release by BYU, they will be ranked starting the season.
Semanoff? He isn't any better than Latu. A 5th-string back at best.
They play different positions, so its comparing apples to oranges (or more literally Fullbacks to halfbacks.) Latu is a half-back and from reports is getting quite heavy (in a not-good way.) Semanoff on the other hand is more of a pure-fullback. He won't get many carries but is an effective blocker and has good enough hands to catch the ball when needed.
If we continue our comparisons (and SAT Prep): Tonga is to Semanoff what Harline is to Coats. Both of the latter play their position in a traditional sense while the former play it in the modified BYU style.
A top-25 ranking by the Sporting News doesn't really count, unfortunately. The polls that matter, the AP and Coaches polls, don't have BYU in the top-25.
Josh, for the last time, neither the AP nor the Coaches polls are out yet. The AP comes out in August and the Coaches after the 1st week. So the only criteria we have at this time is Sporting news and other preseason polls.
If you have evidence the the Cougs are not ranked in either the AP or Coaches Polls, please give us the web sites.
